The Portuguese Watchmaking Institute (IPR) is proud to present the RODA watchmaking conference, a unique event in the Portuguese watchmaking scene, which will feature the distinguished presence of Kari Voutilainen, one of the greatest watchmaking masters of our time. RODA conferences are one-off events organized by the IPR - Lisbon Watchmaking Institute.
About the Guest: Kari Voutilainen, an internationally renowned watchmaker, was born in Finnish Lapland 62 years ago and today leads a workshop of excellence in Môtiers, Switzerland. Recognized for his innovative vision and unparalleled craftsmanship, Voutilainen has won the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève 11 times, establishing himself as an absolute reference in the art of watchmaking. In addition to being the founder of his own brand, Voutilainen, he is CEO of the historic Urban Jürgensen and owner of the dial factory Comblémine SA.
The Event: In this conference, Kari Voutilainen will guide us on an inspiring journey, from his beginnings as a watch restorer to his rise as a world-renowned independent watchmaker. The main theme will be the art of guilloché, in which he will discuss the evolution of this artisanal dial decoration technique as well as its current state in contemporary watchmaking. To conclude, Voutilainen will personally present some of the extraordinary watches from his brand, a true symbol of artisanal excellence.
Participants will have the rare opportunity to learn in depth about the philosophy behind Kari Voutilainen's work, where tradition and innovation come together in perfect harmony. This will also be a privileged moment to explore the technical and aesthetic details that give his creations the status of masterpieces, so admired by collectors and enthusiasts of fine watchmaking worldwide.
