With a history stretching back more than 190 years, Longines never runs short of inspiration, and this Longines Pilot Majetek is a perfect example of just that. This new release is a return to the ties the brand forged with aviation, since the original watch on which it is based was launched in 1935 and designed specifically for Czech pilots - although some were made for civilian use.

This new model brings a number of changes compared with the 1935 edition. Among them, the steel case has grown from 40mm to 43mm, it comes with a screw-down case back, and water resistance is guaranteed to 100m.

Like watches designed especially for pilots, the Majetek has a matt black dial with white numerals coated with Super-LumiNova. The hands are rhodium-plated and likewise coated with Super-LumiNova, which ensures good legibility in dark surroundings.

It is fitted with the Longines calibre L 893.6, with a silicon hairspring, certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC). This watch offers a power reserve of 72 hours and runs at a frequency of 25,200 vph.

THE TRIANGULAR INDICATOR

As in the 1935 version, this watch features a rotating triangular indicator. From the old version to the current one, a rather significant detail has changed. The indicator, which used to move together with the crystal and the bezel, now moves together with the bezel only. This change conveys a greater sense of security.

This triangular indicator makes it possible to time intervals quickly by comparing its position with that of the hands.

STRAP

This Longines Pilot Majetek sells for CHF 3,500, around 3,550 euros, and comes with three strap options: a green leather strap (L0.838.4.53.2), a NATO-style strap made from recycled material (L9.838.4.53.8) and a brown leather strap (L0.838.4.53.0).
