IAMWATCH brings 45 independent watchmakers to Singapore next week, with free admission

The second edition of IAMWATCH, the independent watchmaking fair of the retailer The Hour Glass, takes place from 12 to 15 November at The Singapore EDITION hotel, in Singapore, with 45 watchmakers, 15 more than in 2024.
The days open to the public are 13, 14 and 15 November, from 11am to 8pm. Admission is free, with advance online registration.
The centrepiece is the George Daniels 100 exhibition, organised by Phillips, in association with Bacs & Russo, to mark the centenary of the British watchmaker. It brings together 22 watches, including the two Space Travellers, as the Radar reported on 20 October. What is new is the programme around the exhibition.
There are six lectures. Roger W. Smith speaks on George Daniels and the co-axial escapement, Carlos Torres on chronometer regulators and observatory competitions, and Andreas Strehler and Rémy Cools give one each. The panels have titles such as "I Want to Make My Own Watch. Now What?" and "Does Independence Need the Groups?".
Michael Dubs leads watchmaking classes on all three public days: participants work on a mechanical movement, which they can keep, and receive a certificate of participation. There are also film screenings, including one on MB&F, followed by a conversation with Maximilian Büsser, and the première of a documentary on George Daniels produced by Phillips.
According to WatchPro, the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami will use the fair to unveil Time Objects, his watchmaking project.
