Repairing Clocks and Flight Instruments at AVP - Aero Voo de Portugal
This week we visited a company whose line of work differs from what we usually feature here at the IPR. AVP - Aero Voo de Portugal repairs flight instruments, mechanical clocks among them. We took the opportunity to talk to the company's watchmaker, Luciano Ferreira, a student of Mestre Américo Henriques in 1965. We also spoke to Bruno Rosa, the company's director, who told us about AVP's history and work.
A Family Tradition in Avionics Maintenance and Repair
Aero Voo Portugal (AVP) is a family company certified as a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre under EASA Part 145. Founded in 1996 by Richard Michael Maurer, AVP began as a supplier of consumable parts to the aviation sector.

In 2005, in response to market demand, the company expanded into the maintenance of small electronic avionics instruments. Since then it has grown into a highly specialised Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) workshop, offering services in instruments and avionics, including autopilots, gyroscopic systems and navigation and communication (Nav/Com) equipment.

The AVP team is made up of technicians with more than 30 years of experience, ensuring a high level of precision and reliability in the services provided. The company maintains a strong commitment to excellence and has become a benchmark in the avionics maintenance and repair sector.
