Morgan Maillard and Vacheron Constantin’s Concours d’Élégance Horlogère — IPR Interview at Watches and Wonders 2026
During Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, the IPR – Instituto Português de Relojoaria interviewed Morgan Maillard, Style & Heritage Expert at Vacheron Constantin, in a conversation focused on his professional path within the manufacture and on the new “Concours d’Élégance Horlogère”, recently announced by the brand.
A watchmaker by training, Morgan Maillard joined the Vacheron Constantin workshops in 2014. He later worked as a watchmaker at the brand’s boutiques in Singapore, Geneva and New York, before joining the manufacture’s headquarters as Style & Heritage Expert.
Over the course of the interview, he spoke about the transition from technical workshop work to historical research linked to the brand’s heritage, as well as about the importance of direct contact with collectors and historical watches in shaping his vision of haute horlogerie.
The conversation also turned to the new “Concours d’Élégance Horlogère”, an initiative organised in collaboration with Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo and dedicated exclusively to historical watches from the manufacture.
The competition, presented as the first Concours d’Élégance entirely dedicated to watchmaking, seeks to bring together Vacheron Constantin collectors and enthusiasts around historical pieces produced between 1755 and 1999. The watches will be judged on criteria such as authenticity, rarity, elegance, historical importance, state of preservation and emotional dimension.

During the interview, Morgan Maillard showed his Overseas Dual Time “Cardinal Points – East”, reference 7930V/210T-H074, a titanium edition with a blue dial and orange details, inspired by the idea of travel and geographical orientation associated with the Overseas collection.

Vacheron Constantin’s Style & Heritage Expert also revealed that one of his current favourite watches is the new Overseas Self-Winding Ultra-Thin in platinum, reference 2500V/220P-H028, presented at Watches and Wonders 2026. The piece, limited to 255 examples, is the first Overseas made entirely in 950 platinum and stands out for the new ultra-thin architecture of calibre 2550, just 2.4 mm thick, with a platinum micro-rotor.
The interview is part of the content produced by the IPR during Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to promoting watchmaking culture, the history of timekeeping and contemporary haute horlogerie.
